A review of TESCO's 2009 government awards

May 21, 2010, China - With the end of the 2009 fiscal year, TESCO China has also completed the review of government awards for the year. TESCO China has received a total of 58 individual and group awards from national and local governments and influential non-governmental organizations. In order to thank these winners and groups for their outstanding contributions to the company, TESCO China CEO Tao Erkang hosted a banquet for all the award-winning individuals and team representatives in Shanghai last night to encourage everyone to keep up the good work and create more achievements. Among these 58 awards, 38 are group awards, involving 21 stores across the country. It is particularly worth mentioning that the Beijing Dacheng East Store was awarded the title of "2009 Advanced Safety and Stability Unit" by the Baiziwan West Community; the Tianjin Jinyou Store was awarded the title of "Advanced Fire Safety Unit" by the People's Government of Hexi District of the city; the Shenyang Huanggu Store was awarded the title of "2009 Shenyang Consumer Association Integrity Unit" by the Shenyang Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce; the Shandong Weifang Store was awarded the title of "Consumer Rights Protection Model Enterprise" by the local Kuiwen District Administration for Industry and Commerce; the Guangdong Humen Store was awarded the title of "Harmonious Enterprise" by the local government; the Qibao Store, Changning Store and Zhenbei Store in Shanghai were honored as "2009 Citizens' Most Trusted Chain Store" by the Shanghai Chain Store Association. The Changzhou store in Jiangsu was awarded the title of "Price Integrity Unit of Jiangsu Province in 2008-2009" by the Provincial Price Bureau; the Ningbo Tianyi store was awarded the honorary titles of "Top Ten Chain Enterprises in Ningbo in 2009" and "Consumer Trustworthy Enterprise in Ningbo Haishu District" by the Ningbo Trade Bureau and the Haishu District Consumer Rights Protection Association respectively; the Shaoxing Chengdong store was awarded the title of "The First Batch of Standardized Consumer Rights Protection Contact Stations in Shaoxing" by the Shaoxing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce and the Municipal Consumer Rights Protection Committee; the Hangzhou Xiaoshan store was selected by the Xiaoshan Daily as "The Most Worthy Place for Citizens to Visit". In addition, many TESCO stores have also been awarded many honorary titles by local governments and charitable organizations for their outstanding performance in community development. For example, the Tianjin Development Zone store was awarded the honorary title of "Model Enterprise for Voluntary Assistance to the Disabled and Dedication of Love" by the Tanggu Disabled Persons' Federation; the Guangdong Shunde store was also awarded the title of "Love Assistance to the Disabled, Achievement of Hope" by the local Disabled Persons' Federation. In addition, TESCO employees have won 20 individual honorary titles issued by the government and authoritative non-governmental organizations for their excellent performance at work. Among them, Zhang Xianxiong, the former general manager of TESCO Shenyang Huanggu Store and the current chief operating officer of Shandong District, was awarded the "2009 Gold Medal Store Manager" by the China Chain Store Association. Tao Erkang, vice president of TESCO Group, president and CEO of China, said: "I am proud to have such an excellent elite team. Thank you for your contribution to TESCO. TESCO is actually a big team and a big family. Here we trust each other, respect each other, listen to each other, support each other, express gratitude to each other, celebrate success and share joy.
