What is the IPPC mark? The IPPC logo is the international standard for quarantine measures for wood packaging. The IPPC logo is used to identify wood packaging that meets the IPPC standard, indicating that the wood packaging has been processed by the IPPC quarantine standard. In March 2002, the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) issued the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15, "Guidelines for the Regulation of Wood Packaging Material in International Trade" (ISPM15). After its implementation, the standard has undergone several revisions in terms of text and content, including the addition of pest control methods and the updating of pest control indicators. The latest version was released in 2019. Why should we add IPPC logo? Wooden packaging has become the main carrier and support for international cargo transportation due to its high strength, good toughness, recyclability and reuse. However, wood packaging is also the main carrier of cross-border transmission of forest pests, which can spread many pests such as pine wood nematodes, longhorn beetles, termites, bark beetles, wood wasps, jelly beetles, weevils, etc. Since 1998, some major trading countries have required the exporting countries to implement quarantine on outbound wood packaging and issue plant quarantine certificates. Since wood packaging in international trade involves many types of goods and related enterprises, and the batches are large, it will consume a lot of administrative resources to implement quarantine and issue certificates for each batch of wood packaging according to conventional quarantine practices. To this end, IPPC member countries negotiated and finally reached International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15. As long as wooden packaging in international trade is treated with pests and marked, it is no longer necessary to quarantine and issue certificates for each batch of wooden packaging; member countries recognize each other's marks, and only the IPPC mark needs to be checked upon entry, without the need to check the plant quarantine certificate. This is the end of the introduction to IPPC labeling in this issue. If you want to get more information about IPPC labeling, please pay attention and we will continue to answer your questions~ |
