What is the connection between SMETA, SEDEX and ETI?

SMETA is the ethical audit standard of SEDEX, short for Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit, developed by the Sedex Associated Auditors Group (AAG). SMETA is designed to reduce duplication of work in ethical trade audits, benefiting retailers, customer brands and their suppliers. It was developed in response to the needs of members who need an ethical audit report format that can be shared more easily.
Sedex is the abbreviation of Supplier Ethical Data Exchange. Sedex is a network database that helps companies store information on labor standards within their business scope, and their customers can also share this information. Today, Sedex has won the favor of many large retailers and manufacturers (mostly British retailers), including Co-op, Geest, Grampian- Foods, Tesco, Hallmark Cards, Sainsbury's, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, The Body Shop, Waitrose, etc.
The SMETA approach uses the Anglo-German Institute (ETI) code and local laws as measurement tools. It includes two modules, "Health and Safety" and "Labor Standards", which are consistent with most other international standards. Recently, additional environmental and business ethics assessments have been added.
ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) is the abbreviation of the British Ethical Trading Organization. It is a proposal drafted by the UK to improve the working conditions of global workers by establishing a forum for corporate social responsibility in purchasing in developing countries.
