Following the guidance of the International Labor Organization (ILO) on social responsibility management programs and adopting the concepts of the SA 8000 standard, the members of the French Federation of Commerce and Distribution (FCD) officially launched the "Initiative Clause Sociale (ICS)" in the third quarter of 1998. The main purpose of the convention is to provide appropriate guidance to the countries of origin of non-food consumer products. As stated in the ICS Social Convention, its purpose is to promote and support suppliers' continuous improvement projects related to the working environment in the product supply chain of each member, including social responsibility and occupational health and safety. The ICS Social Convention has defined the basic core requirements for ICS members. Each member can formulate its own social responsibility code (Code of Conduct), which may cover more than the existing regulations or strengthen the requirements of existing clauses. In order to avoid unnecessary repeated audits in the supply chain, all audits conducted voluntarily by ICS members will be uploaded to the ICS database and open to ICS members. |
