What are the listing techniques on eBay? What are the traffic-generating techniques on eBay?

eBay is different from other large e-commerce platforms. eBay is an "auction" e-commerce trading platform, so the experience of other platforms is not very useful. What we need to learn today is the operation of listing skills and traffic diversion on eBay.

What are the listing techniques on eBay?

1. Product selection

(1) Non-standard products: When a product has different expectations in the eyes of different buyers, the auction effect of such products is greater than that of products with unanimous recognition. This can be understood as the principle of "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and beauty is different for different people";

(2) For some one-time purchases or production products, inventory restrictions often make it unsuitable to set a fixed price. In this case, auctions are the best way for them to find the right person for each other.

(3) Hot-selling items: When some hot-selling items are presented for auction, as long as the price is very attractive, there will usually be a large number of bidders, but the final transaction price must be a certain percentage lower than the fixed price;

(4) Clearing out inventory with high-priced products. This type of product has a slow order volume in the original fixed-price format. We choose to use auctions combined with certain attractive prices. Often, one auction results in one order, which is conducive to clearing out inventory!

(5) Testing customized new products. For some customized new products, it is difficult to control the production of large quantities because it is difficult to understand the customer's psychological price and preference. Auctions can often be used to test the market. The fast BID of the number of people who have just put the product on the auction can represent the market preference, and the final transaction price can represent the customer's expected price. Of course, the parameters of frequent bidding by different buyers can basically be used as a reference for future fixed price pricing. The fixed price can be 30-50% higher than this frequent price as the price to enter the market; when the final price is a high price bid by a certain person who has been participating all the time, then these high prices cannot be used as the basis for fixed price pricing. You can find the stage where different buyers bid frequently in the auction and refer to the above situation;

(6) Scarce products. I will not analyze this in detail. You can think of it as the auction nature of the “Buffett lunch”.

2. Price form

Many sellers set a variety of prices when auctioning. Here is a brief summary of some of the price setting effects, and the following are the effects from good to bad;

eBay's lowest recognized starting price + free shipping > seller's lowest recognized starting price + free shipping > eBay's lowest recognized starting price + shipping > seller's lowest recognized starting price + shipping > seller's break-even price + free shipping > eBay's lowest recognized starting price (seller sets break-even price) + free shipping > seller's break-even price + shipping, etc. Of course, this is my personal experience and judgment, for reference only, and cannot be 100% recommended;

3. Shelf time

The closer to the delisting time, the higher the ranking. Therefore, when setting the delisting and delisting time, you must be familiar with the peak purchasing period of your category on eBay. This way, you can maximize the display to the huge target customer base when the product is delisted. You cannot generalize and think that it is ok to list the product on eBay during the peak period without considering the peak traffic period of your category!

4. Shelf quantity and interval time

Different sellers have different strengths, so the number of listings is different, which leads to different intervals!

For example, if the traffic on eBay is constant, the peak period of category purchase is fixed. Therefore, whoever provides the most products to occupy the first few pages of eBay search for this keyword during the peak period will get the traffic at this stage. This can directly explain the number and interval of listings (think about those people who browse their friends' circles. They post so many things at once, and there will always be similar content that you inadvertently click on. The screen-sweeping strategy is the ultimate skill of auctions)! Therefore, in the face of homogeneous products, auction quantity wins; in the face of differentiated products, auction skills win;

5. Number of days for publication

eBay has adjusted the commission fees based on the number of days of listing, so it prefers 5-10 days of auctions. It is recommended that you use 1-3 days for hot-selling products, 5-7 days for non-test new products, and 10 days for test new products.

What are the traffic-generating techniques for eBay?

1. Cross-promotion traffic generation

It is a common method to use auctions to associate fixed prices on the page to attract traffic. It is recommended that you use "accessories-related main product-related traffic methods; main product cost-effectiveness model-related alternative profit product-related traffic methods; cost-effective main product-related new product-related traffic methods" and so on;

2. Banner traffic diversion

Auction products can all use page banners to uniformly guide customers to browse the store through the banner promotion product link. The final transaction of an auction product is based on the action of the same target potential customer browsing the page to bid for the product at least once a day. After the target customer has his or her first overall understanding of the product, each remaining auction is an opportunity for the seller to do marketing. Therefore, it is crucial for the page to have a banner with good content. This is also a consideration of whether the auctioneer has a control over the actual traffic of the auction. Traffic is not easy, please cherish it!
