The development of FSC forest certification in China

In 1999, FSC issued the first CoC certificate in China.

In 2007, the FSC China Working Group was established.

In 2011, FSC had two full-time employees in China.

In 2015, five of the top ten leading companies in China's wood and wood products industry had subsidiaries that obtained FSC certification.

Among the top 20 papermaking enterprises in China in 2016, 14 subsidiaries of group companies have obtained FSC certification.

Now, as the international community and consumers pay more and more attention to the sustainability of forest products, the growth of FSC certification in China is also getting faster and faster. In recent years, it has reached the point where companies are obtaining certification every day.

With the joint efforts of all parties, as of October 2016, the forest area that has obtained FSC certification is nearly 1 million hectares, and there are more than 4,800 certified enterprises. Many well-known international companies and consumer brands involved in the production and sale of certified products, such as IKEA, McDonald's, Lego, H&M, L'Oreal Group, etc., as well as domestic industry leaders such as China Paper, Sun Paper, International Paper, Daya Group, Dehua Group, Yihua Wood Industry, etc., all regard FSC certification as one of the indicators of fulfilling social responsibility and practicing green economy.

In printing, packaging, toys and other related industries, more and more companies are actively using FSC certification to enhance their corporate reputation and avoid legal risks in international trade.

FSC has also carried out fruitful work with the State Forestry Administration of China, the China Certification and Accreditation Administration, and relevant industry associations, societies and other institutions in the areas of sustainable forest management, certification and accreditation services, trade and legality certification.
