What is GRS Global Recycling Standard Certification?

The Global Recycling Standard ( GRS Certification ) was originally developed by Control Union in 2008, but on January 1, 2011, the ownership of this standard was transferred to the Textile Exchange. The Textile Exchange revised the standard in early 2012 with the goal of making the standard more robust and including new chemical requirements .

At the same time, GRS certification also meets the needs of enterprises to verify the recycled/regenerated components contained in products (including finished products and semi-finished products), and also verifies related operations such as social responsibility, environmental regulations and chemical use.

The Global Recycling Standard applies to all companies (units) that produce or sell GRS products. This includes all products that contain at least 20% recycled materials in processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, sales and use. GRS certification is not required for related material collection points and material collection points .

However, they must declare that they must comply with a series of normative requirements listed in this standard and agree to random inspections by the certification body on this basis. The scope of certified products is based on the concept of textile products, but the scope of certification is not limited to the textile product industry. In this case, outsourced production units (partial or full processing for the final product) must comply with the normative requirements of the GRS standard.

Global Recycling Standard (GRS certification) is an international, voluntary standard.
