Introduction to Sedex System Registration

Introduction to Sedex System Registration

Over the years, Marks & Spencer has been committed to ensuring that suppliers who produce Marks & Spencer brands can provide a good working environment for their employees. This concept reflects the core brand value of Marks & Spencer, that is, our customers trust us and expect high-standard products, and they also trust our business ethics. In addition, we recognize that when employees are respected and well paid in a good working environment, they and their companies can win more trust from customers, and production will continue to increase, with the ultimate goal of enabling our customers to obtain high-quality, high-grade, and high-value brand products.

In 1994, Marks & Spencer published its global supplier code. This code clearly conveys our labor standards and environmental protection standards. As business relationships continue to develop, we take into account internationally recognized human rights standards. We expect suppliers to improve their human rights standards and improve the working environment. We have adopted the basic code of the Business Ethics Committee to operate Marks & Spencer's global standards, and hope that suppliers can work towards this code. We require all factories and production bases that produce Marks & Spencer products to regularly accept our factory assessments. The assessment results will serve as reference for our supplier inspections.

We are working on an agreement with all Marks & Spencer suppliers to register with the Sedex system, which is short for Supplier Ethical Data Exchange. Sedex is an online database that helps companies store information about labor standards within their business scope and share this information with their customers. We require suppliers to complete an online self-assessment using this system and upload human rights assessment information for each factory. Today, Sedex has gained the favor of many large retailers and manufacturers, including Co-op, Geest. Grampian-Foods, HallmarkCards... Sainsbury and Tesco. According to Marks & Spencer's requirements, you need to complete the factory assessment information on the Sedex system, so we have produced this operating manual. More information about Sedex is provided. Please read all the operating instructions carefully to ensure that you understand the Sedex system in a timely and quick manner. If you have any questions, please resolve them as soon as possible. For more information about Sedex, please visit www.Sedex.org.uk. If you require assistance completing your assessment please contact [email protected].
