Walmart's latest ES standards: unacceptable and acceptable on-site rectification

1. Issues that do not accept on-site improvements and explanations:

In fact, after Wal-Mart tightened its standards, many problems were exposed. For example, the requirements were too strict, and it was found that most factories could not meet them, or some requirements were not enforceable or reasonable. These problems can be seen through Wal-Mart's continuous adjustment of the standards. In the new standards, Wal-Mart emphasizes the importance of corporate management awareness and believes that human and management factors are a potential high risk. Therefore, many of the following problems will not be subject to on-site improvement and will result in an orange light:

1 On-site aspects:

1.1 The channel is blocked: resulting in an orange light, and no on-site improvement is accepted. The factory's explanation will not affect the result. The following interpretations will not be valid:

The explanation is that the employee is temporarily placed;

Employees failed to place goods as required, resulting in aisles being blocked;

We will remove it in a moment;

2 Firefighting facilities:

Incomplete firefighting facilities: This is actually a management problem, or simply a problem of not respecting standards:

The number of fire extinguishers is incomplete, there are no fire hydrants, the water pressure of the fire hydrants is insufficient, etc.

2. Some of the problems found by the auditor on site will be accepted if the factory completes the rectification before the auditor leaves, or will not lead to the orange light. From Walmart's perspective, it is the size of the risk and the actual situation. For example, emergency lights are electronic products. Even if you check them once a day, you cannot 100% ensure that all emergency lights are effective at the time of the auditor's spot check. The failure of this product function itself is reasonable and a common phenomenon.

Since 2016, Walmart has clearly announced that the following issues are acceptable for on-site rectification at factories.

Note: Point 9 onwards are fire-related issues, for reference only!

1) Walmart Standards:

2) Spill Response Material / Secondary Containment (110%): Secondary protection measures

l Not present;

l Inappropriate

3) None or insufficient/improper: None or insufficient/improper

l MSDS; Material Safety Data Sheet

l Hazardous signing; Hazardous goods sign

l Labeling/inventory.

4) Working areas:

l Present safely hazard (Fall, Hole, Etc.)

5) First Aid box supplies:

l Not sufficient.

6) Waste containers:

l Not identified;

l Labeled by type and hazard

7) Drainage system:

No clear layout

8) Machine Safely:

l No posting of machine instructions safely in local language

Failure to post machine safety instructions in the local language

9) Evacuation plan:

l Is not present;

l Does not have "YOU ARE HERE" mark;

l Does not match facility layout;

l Is not in language spoken by majority of employees.

10) The facility evacuation plan:

l Is not posted in legally required areas;

l Is not posted in every production area;

l Is not posted in high-concentration areas;

l Is not posted near entrances to stairwells.

11) Few fire-fighting facilities fail:

11.1) Emergency lights, safe evacuation arrows or emergency exit signs rarely fail to function and the situation can be corrected immediately on site.
