Brief introduction - social responsibility factory inspection standards
Child labor: Companies cannot support the use of child labor. Social Accountability International (SAI), defines child labor as "all workers under the age of 15, unless local law has a minimum working age limit."
Forced Labor: Companies may not force their employees to work.
Health and Safety: Businesses must provide a safe and healthy working environment for their employees.
Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining: Companies must respect employees’ rights to freely form and join trade unions and engage in collective bargaining.
Industry discrimination: Companies must not practice or support discrimination in employment, salary levels, vocational training, job promotion, termination of labor contracts, and retirement policies.
Discrimination on the basis of race, caste, nationality, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, trade union membership, political affiliation or age.
Disciplinary Practices: Companies may not practice or support the use of corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion, or verbal abuse as a form of disciplinary action.
Working hours: Companies must comply with applicable laws and industry regulations regarding working and resting hours.
Compensation levels: Companies must ensure that they pay their employees a standard workweek wage in accordance with basic legal or industry standards.
Management System: Senior management must formulate corporate policies on social responsibility and labor rights and ensure that all relevant national standards are met through written provisions.
