A brief understanding of the role of ISO17025 laboratory accreditation

ISO17025 is an international standard for laboratory accreditation services. The latest version was released in May 2005. Its full name is ISO/IEC17025:2005-5-15 "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories". The ISO17025 standard is a laboratory management standard formulated by the International Organization for Standardization ISO/CASCO (International Organization for Standardization/Conformity Assessment Committee). The predecessor of this standard is ISO/IEC Guide 25:1990 "Requirements for the competence of calibration and testing laboratories". The organization that manages laboratory accreditation internationally is the "International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC)", which is participated by 44 laboratory accreditation bodies including the China National Accreditation Service for Laboratories (CNACL).

The role of ISO17025 laboratory accreditation

a. Demonstrate that the laboratory has the ability to provide services in accordance with international accreditation standards;
b. Enhanced the laboratory's market competitiveness and won the trust of government departments and all sectors of society;
c. Obtaining recognition from national and regional accreditation bodies that have signed mutual recognition agreements with CNAS will help eliminate non-tariff technical barriers to trade;
d. Participate in bilateral and multilateral cooperation in international laboratory accreditation to promote the development of industry, technology and trade;
e. The CNAS laboratory national accreditation mark and the ILAC international mutual recognition joint mark can be used within the scope of accreditation;
f. Electronically register and publish on the website of "China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment"; accept the supervision and audit of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment to enhance the visibility of the laboratory.
