Most common issues found in a factory during a compliance audit The most common problems found during factory inspections: 1. Fire Safety, Exits and Equipment Fire safety, emergency exits and equipment 2. First Aid equipment not properly supplied Failure to provide first aid equipment 3. Missing or incomplete personnel records Missing or incomplete personnel records 4. Payroll and time keeping system not being properly used Failure to properly use the payroll and time recording system 5. Lack of proper Country of Origin documentation-records must be maintained for 5 years per US Customs and Border Protection Lack of proper country of origin records - according to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, records must be kept for 5 years 6. Wages-regular and overtime not being properly paid Wages - Failure to pay regular wages and overtime wages Audit finds are reviewed with factory management at the end of the audit Factory inspection completed, factory inspection results reviewed by factory management Factory agrees to a specified time frame as to when issues will be corrected The factory agrees to a specific time frame to correct any problems found. Note: A factory will be unregistered and assigned Non-compliant status if one or more of the following is found during the audit: Note: If one or more of the following issues are found during the audit, the factory will be deregistered and deemed "non-contract (non-compliant)". The following are considred Severe Violations and will result in non-compliance factory status at any point in time not just after a 3rd audit. The factory would then not be able to be used for up to 3 years. The following are considered "serious violations" and will cause the factory to be deemed "non-contractual (non-compliant)" at any time (not just after the third factory inspection). The factory will not be allowed to be used for three years. 1. Child Labor 2. Forced Labor 3. Corporal Punishment 4. Illegal Transshipment or 1. Two denied audit Factory inspection refused twice 2. 3rd audit of the first round of audits The third factory inspection of the first round did not pass 3. 2nd sustainability audit Failure of the second follow-up factory inspection Global Compliance will assess financial penalties for the following: Global Compliance (Human Rights) Factory Audit will assess financial penalties for the following behaviors: 1. Denied Audits-Auditor arrives to the factory and is declinded access to conduct a factory audit. Inspection Refusal - The inspector arrives at the factory but is refused entry to perform the inspection 2. Inaccurate Audits-The factory name/address information is not correct or up-to-date in BPM Inaccurate information - factory name/address information is inaccurate or not updated in a timely manner 3. Unregistered Factory-Failure to register subcontractor/factories that are producing Target owned brand product (including subcontractors) Unregistered Factory - Unregistered subcontractor/factory producing Target private label products. |
