What are the Matson Clippers?

Matson Express was originally engaged in arms shipping. It entered the Chinese market in 2005 and opened the first China-US route (CLX1) in China, calling at Ningbo-Shanghai-Long Beach, USA. The route uses 5 container ships that can carry an average of 2,600 TEUs. Matson has offices in Shanghai and Ningbo. In May 2009, Matson Shipping included Xiamen Port in the business scope of China-US Express (CLX1). In 2010, Matson Shipping officially opened its second route in China (CLX2) and opened offices in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Why are the Matson Clippers so fast?

Matson's China business has three shipping points: Ningbo, Shanghai and Xiamen Port. It is expected that Shenzhen Port will be opened next year. Matson ships depart from Shanghai Port in China and go directly to Long Beach (LB) in the western United States. From the route map above, there is no stop in the middle, and it goes directly to the western United States.

The sailing time of the Matson Clipper is generally about 15 days, so the delivery time is very fast.

Matson Clippers has its own port (with military background), so unlike other ports, there is no possibility of congestion during the traditional peak season.

As far as Amazon seller logistics is concerned, the business process of Matson Express FBA is as follows: FBA goods from areas with a large number of sellers, such as Shenzhen, are first loaded into containers, then concentrated by barges to Shanghai Port, and then sent directly to Long Beach, USA. After arriving in Long Beach, the goods are distributed to LA Port or dispatched by express to FBA warehouses in various places. The Amazon warehouses in the western United States have the fastest delivery speed and the most timely delivery time. Warehouses such as ONT8 in the western United States are warehouses where a large number of Chinese sellers' goods are concentrated, so they are very popular with Chinese sellers in the United States. The sea freight rate is much cheaper than express and air delivery, and it is also the most economical cargo transportation channel for Chinese sellers.
