Pixmania - Europe's Cheap Electronics Store

What is Pixmania?

Pixmania is Europe's No. 1 cheap electronics store. Founded by the French in Paris in 2000, the Pixmania Group has become the largest online digital camera seller in France and even Germany in a short period of time. Its platform sells tens of thousands of products including digital cameras, televisions, game consoles, computers, tablets, small household appliances, etc.

What is the history of Pixmania?

-In 2000, Pixmania was founded.

-In 2006, Dixons Group acquired 75% of Pixmania for 266 million euros.

-In 2007, Pixmania launched PIXplace, which allows third-party manufacturers to sell products on the Pixmania website.

-In 2010, its sales reached 900 million euros, and it has its own logistics centers and customer service centers throughout Europe.

- From 2011 to 2014, Pixmania's turnover dropped sharply, from 850 million euros to 295 million euros; the number of employees decreased from 1,000 in 2000 to 370, a decrease of nearly 2/3.

-In 2013, in order to reverse the loss situation, its parent company, British retail group Dixons, decided to reduce the platform categories to only sell high-tech and home appliances, and closed its 10 stores in France.

-In September 2013, due to the platform's continued losses, the Dixons Group sold Pixmania to Munich investment company Mutares.

-In October 2015, Pixmania filed for bankruptcy protection.

-In early 2016, the court announced that Pixmania would undergo judicial reorganization.

-On February 24, 2016, French online shopping mall Vente-du-diable became the buyer.
