How to handle eBay buyers automatically canceling transactions

ebay/" target="_blank"> eBay platform stipulates that buyers can request to cancel a transaction within hours after the transaction occurs. However, if the seller has uploaded the tracking number and marked the shipment, the buyer can no longer request to cancel the transaction. After receiving the buyer's request to cancel the transaction, the seller must respond within the specified time: one working day for the US site and one working day for the UK site to decide whether to accept the buyer's request.

Sellers can take the following approaches:

Agree to the request: The seller needs to refund the buyer within 10 working days, the eBay platform will refund the transaction fee, and the buyer can no longer leave a negative review or low score.

Reject the request: The transaction will proceed.

No response: If the seller still does not respond after more than 3 working days, eBay will assume that the seller has rejected the request and the transaction will continue.

If the buyer initiates the cancellation of the transaction, it will not be recorded as a bad transaction by eBay. However, when handling these requests, the seller must go through the transaction cancellation process of the dispute resolution center of the eBay platform, so that it will be identified as a "buyer's request" and will not be recorded as a bad transaction. In order to provide buyers with sufficient time to consider, it is best for sellers to mark the shipment after the transaction occurs. If the buyer requests to cancel the transaction, the seller should handle it in a timely manner after receiving the request. If the buyer's request is rejected, the seller should also communicate well with the buyer and strive for the buyer's understanding to minimize customer loss.

In addition, there is one more thing to pay special attention to. Although the seller will be regarded as rejecting the request if he does not respond after 3 working days, the seller must not remain silent every time, which can easily have a negative impact on himself. Because the system defaults to the seller's rejection, the transaction will continue, which is not conducive to the buyer's shopping experience. The buyer is likely to leave a bad review or low score for the seller because of dissatisfaction.
