China responds to accusations in 2010 U.S. human rights record

China News Service, Beijing, April 10 (Xinhua) China's State Council Information Office published "The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2010" on the 10th in response to the accusations against China's human rights situation in the "2010 Country Human Rights Reports" released by the US State Department on the 8th.

This is the 12th consecutive year that the State Council Information Office has published the human rights record of the United States in response to the annual Country Human Rights Reports on the United States, with the aim of "urging the United States to face up to its own human rights issues." The Human Rights Record of the United States in 2010 points out that the U.S. State Department published the Country Human Rights Reports in 2010, once again distorting and accusing the human rights conditions in more than 190 countries and regions in the world, including China, but turned a blind eye to its own poor human rights situation and rarely mentioned it.

The full text of "Human Rights Record of the United States in 2010" is about 13,000 words, including six parts: on life, property and personal safety, on civil rights and political rights, on economic, social and cultural rights, on racial discrimination, on women's and children's rights, and on violations of human rights in other countries.

Human rights records point out that the United States is the country with the most violent crimes in the world, and the lives, property and personal safety of citizens are not properly protected. About one-fifth of the people in the United States become victims of various crimes every year, which is the highest proportion in the world. Gun control in the United States is lax and has become a disaster. Gun killings are frequent and bloody incidents continue.

Human rights records show that the US government has seriously violated civil and political rights. Citizens' privacy has been violated. According to data released by the American Civil Liberties Union in September 2010, more than 6,600 tourists had their electronic devices searched at port crossings from October 1, 2008 to June 2, 2010, nearly half of whom were American citizens. Police abuse of violence and torture are serious. The United States has always claimed to be a "land of freedom", but the number of prisoners deprived of their freedom in the United States ranks first in the world. Unjust and wrongful convictions are frequent in the United States. The United States has always regarded itself as a "beacon of democracy", but in fact, American democracy is a democracy of money. The United States vigorously advocates and promotes Internet freedom, but in fact, the United States has very strict restrictions on the Internet.

The human rights record says that the United States has a poor record in the field of international human rights. The Iraq War and the Afghanistan War launched by the United States caused a large number of civilian casualties. The United States refused to participate in some important international human rights conventions and fulfill its international obligations. On March 18, 2011, the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted the final document of the Universal Periodic Review of the United States' human rights, but the United States insisted on rejecting most of the recommendations made during the review, which was criticized by many countries.

The human rights record points out that the facts show that the United States has a very poor human rights record and is not qualified to pretend to be the world's "human rights judge", but it publishes "Country Human Rights Reports" year after year to judge and criticize the human rights situation in other countries and regions.
