What is India's BIS certification? Come and have a look

What is Indian BIS certification? What is the use of Indian BIS certification? What is the use of BIS certification principles? What is the BIS certification process? What information is required for BIS certification? Let me tell you one by one.

BIS Certification Introduction:

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is responsible for product certification and has 5 regional bureaus and 19 branches.

BIS (The Bureau of Indian Standards) certification is a mandatory market access certification in India. Testing must be conducted in a qualified laboratory in India. India BIS is a third-party certification body. Products certified by it will be marked with the ISI label, which has a wide influence in India and neighboring countries. Its good reputation is a reliable guarantee of product quality. Once a product is marked with the "ISI mark", it means that it meets the relevant Indian standards, and consumers can buy it with confidence. After August 13, 2015, all rechargeable batteries for portable products need to be registered with BIS. Cell only needs to obtain BIS registration separately when conducting commercial transactions in the Indian market.

Before product certification, manufacturers need to ensure that samples comply with relevant Indian BIS standards to ensure that the risk of customer sample test failure is low.

Local regulations in India require:

1. Foreign manufacturers must obtain permission from the Reserve Bank of India to set up a liaison office or branch in India, and the liaison office or branch must comply with all BIS laws, regulations and rules;

2. India has signed a memorandum with the government of BIS on the implementation and application of BIS statutes, regulations and rules and penalty provisions;

3. The manufacturer shall designate an authorized agent in India who shall declare on behalf of the manufacturer compliance with the BIS 1986 Act, Regulations and Rules in accordance with the contents and terms of the agreement signed between BIS and the foreign manufacturer and shall be responsible for this.

BIS certification principles:

1. Voluntary certification for some products: India's product certification is based on the principle of voluntary certification, aiming to provide end consumers with quality-assured, safe and reliable products.

2. Some products are subject to compulsory certification: Taking into account factors such as public health and safety and mass consumption, the Indian government has issued an immediate decree to implement compulsory certification for specific products. The Indian Bureau of Standards only grants certification certificates upon application, and the specific work of compulsory certification is carried out by relevant authorities.

Certification mode: sample testing + registration and certification

Certification period: 45 working days (including testing and registration, qualified testing and complete documentation)

Sample quantity: 2-6 pcs (can be applied by series, one sample should be selected for testing for every 10 models in the same series)

Registration validity period: 2 years, directly updated through BIS after expiration

BIS certification process:

->Customer places order and sends samples to the laboratory

->The laboratory conducts structural inspection of the product and prepares relevant documents for certification application

->Send samples to Indian partner laboratory

->Indian cooperative laboratory issues BIS test report
