eBay Beginner's Tutorial: Steps to Set Up Vacation Mode

You can put your store on holiday to display a message to potential buyers letting them know that you are unavailable. You can also choose to hide your fixed price listings if you wish. Keep in mind that since this will not affect auction-style listings, those listings will need to be manually ended before the holiday begins. If you decide not to hide your fixed price listings, make sure you adjust the stated handling times so that buyers can accurately anticipate shipping and delivery. This will also ensure that you do not record any late shipment defects.

To turn on the Store Holidays setting:

1. Click the Mail tab in My eBay.

2. Select Change settings.

3. In the Store vacation settings section, select On.

4. If you want to hide your fixed-price listings from eBay search results and store pages and prevent buyers from purchasing items in these listings while you're out, select Hide and prevent purchases from my fixed-price listings. (This will not affect your auction-style listings.)

5. If you want buyers to see a date by which the item will be returned and ready for shipment, select Show return date and enter the date in the box provided.

6. In the Message displayed on the storefront section, edit the default text that appears in the text box if you want to customize it.

7. Click Apply.

If you don't have a store and are planning a vacation, you will need to manually end your fixed-price listings and any auctions that were scheduled to end during your break. You can relist your items when you return.

Keep in mind that potential clients may have questions for you while you're out, so you should set up an out-of-office reply to let them know when you'll be back.
