What is TweetDeck? The development of TweetDeck

What is TweetDeck?

TweetDeck is a Twitter account management tool, and some of its features can help you research potential influencers.

With TweetDeck, you can see how many followers an account has and how many Twitter lists they have. This is a good indicator of how valuable an influencer is in the eyes of their fans.

TweetDeck also has a search tool that can help you find tweets based on tags or keywords. Of course, you can do this on Twitter using the platform's native search function, but TweetDeck can help you narrow your search to only those tweets with high retweets, likes, or replies.

TweetDeck is a free time-saving tool that can weed out those relevant but low-engagement tweets during your search.

The Development of TweetDeck

On March 16, 2009, a pre-release version was released which included Facebook status update integration.

As of April 8, 2009, Facebook status updates are part of standard procedure.

Version 0.32, released on November 30, 2009, added LinkedIn integration and new Twitter features.

In May 2010, TweetDeck also added integration with the Google Buzz and Foursquare social networks.

On May 25, 2011, Twitter acquired TweetDeck.

In 2012, TweetDeck reverted to supporting only Twitter and Facebook, ending support for LinkedIn, MySpace, and the now-defunct Google Buzz effective June 2012.

March 4, 2013 - TweetDeck announced in a blog post that they would be suspending the mobile versions of TweetDeck, including TweetDeck AIR, TweetDeck for iPhone, and TweetDeck for Android, which were removed from their respective app stores in May.

In May 2013, TweetDeck removed support for Facebook accounts.

On July 25, 2013, the Android, iOS, and AIR versions of TweetDeck were shut down.

In April 2016, Twitter shut down its Windows client TweetDeck.
