GRS (Global Recycle Standard) Global Recycling Standard

GRS (Global Recycle Standard) Global Recycling Standard
The Global Recycling Standard GRS certification is developed for the needs of the textile industry to verify recycled products or certain specific products. More importantly, it allows retailers and consumers to understand which parts of a specific product are recycled materials and how these materials are handled in the supply chain. GRS certification provides a tracking certification system to ensure that your commitment to the product is effectively fulfilled. The new GRS certification is a three-level system, which is divided into copper standard, silver standard and gold standard according to the recycling standards of each product. The higher gold standard requires that the product contains 95%-100% recycled materials, the silver standard product contains 70%-95% recycled materials, and the copper standard product needs to contain no less than 30% recycled materials. All standard products must show the percentage of recycled components and will be hung with the appropriate gold, silver and copper GRS logos. In addition to raw material specifications, this standard also covers environmental processing standards, including strict wastewater treatment requirements and chemical use, as well as the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), etc. Social responsibility factors are also included in GRS, aiming to protect the health and safety of workers. The implementation of GRS certification is global. RCS is also a certification of the global recycling standard, but only 5% of the recycled content is required, and no environmental and social responsibility factory inspection is required. It can be said that GRS certification is a high standard and strict requirement based on RCS certification.
