FSC certification: "Forest packaging trend" is sweeping the country

Thousands of milk and beverage cartons are discarded, which means a lot of forest resources are consumed. How to strike a balance between protecting forests and meeting people's daily needs needs to be controlled from the perspective of packaging materials. Reporters learned that a "forest packaging trend" is sweeping the country, and many manufacturers choose to achieve true "green packaging" by strictly selecting new packaging materials that have passed FSC forest certification (forest sustainable management certification).

"If the materials used to make milk cartons come from deforestation, then no matter how much recycling we do afterwards, it will not help protect our environment," a person in charge of Mengniu Group, which recently announced that it will fully use FSC forest certified packaging, told reporters.

It is understood that the recycling of milk cartons has become a social concern. Since most of the materials used in the packaging boxes have extremely high reuse value, recycling and reusing these packaging boxes has gradually become a trend. However, another issue that has not been taken seriously has now been recognized by the industry: when producing these packaging boxes, who can guarantee that they are not produced in the process of deforestation? As a result, many companies in my country have begun to implement FSC forest certification, setting off a green trend of "forest packaging". It is reported that this forest certification is supervised and audited by an independent third-party organization according to recognized principles and standards to ensure that the wood produced by them meets the requirements of sustainable development from the transportation, processing to circulation of logs, which is conducive to protecting forest resources from "one-time destruction". The protected forest resources continue to provide "carbon fixation" and "water storage" functions for the environment, eliminating the results of forest resource loss, soil erosion, climate abnormalities, etc. caused by long-term deforestation. The use of new FSC forest certified packaging materials also has high requirements for suppliers. From supplier material selection to production, it will be supervised by a third-party organization. "The FSC forest certification logo printed on the packaging helps remind people to protect our environment at all times," said a person in charge of Mengniu Group.
