Discrimination means that employers must not infringe upon workers’ basic rights and dignity, that is, they should provide fair and reasonable job opportunities and not allow sexual assault. Auditors will pay attention to the following issues when inspecting the factory: 1) Does the employer have discriminatory regulations and behaviors in its daily operations? It should be noted that putting people of the same gender together to work together does not prove discriminatory behavior, such as having more female workers in manual assembly. 2) Are there any age or gender restrictions when recruiting employees? 3) Is equal pay achieved for equal work? 4) Does the employer have clear procedures and designated personnel to handle complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment? If discrimination or sexual harassment occurs, how do workers file complaints? 5) A Hong Kong-funded boss requires employees to kneel and kowtow in front of the altar set up in the factory on the first and fifteenth day of each lunar month. Is this okay? (No!) |
