Several issues about BSCI factory audit

What products does BSCI cover?
Factory inspections can be carried out in any production plant around the world.
The types of articles cover a wide range of BSCI. There are a large number of departmental stores selling various textiles, clothing, home textiles, small devices, toys, accessories as members. There are also members focusing on a particular product group, such as clothing stores, shoe retailers, baby products or sports products. For the implementation of BSCI in the food industry, BSCI has developed a special template for major products.

Does BSCI provide certificates?
BSCI is not a certification system and therefore cannot issue certificates. BSCI provides members, suppliers, auditors and qualified persons with consistent management tools for specific processes. This approach ensures consistent audit processes, assessments, and therefore comparable results. How can I receive a BSCI factory audit certificate? The cover of the BSCI factory audit report lists the results, and the audit validity period can be displayed on the factory unit and as an audit certificate.

How much does a BSCI factory audit cost?
The cost of a factory audit depends on the size and location of the factory and the number of working days required to conduct the audit.
As an example, the audit time policy requires at least one working day (8 hours) on site for small companies (less than 250 employees). Prices vary by company and country.

Who pays for the factory inspection?
This is negotiated between the BSCI member and its suppliers. There is no fixed practice in BSCI.

Which BSCI auditor conducts the audit?
Currently, only independent auditing companies accredited by SAI and selected by BSCI will be entrusted to carry out BSCI social audits. This ensures the best possible audit quality and avoids expensive, bureaucratic certification processes. BSCI is not a certification scheme, but a monitoring system that uses SA8000 as a guideline.

How transparent is BSCI?
BSCI provides interested partners with information about the system, standards and personnel involved in how BSCI is implemented. The BSCI "System Provisions and Functions" is the basis and can be downloaded from the BSCI website.
BSCI publishes its annual report every year, which provides all stakeholders with an insight into their activities, developments and investigations.
